ERP consulting is priced by the platform, not by the person. The same implementation skills, applied to Workday, were advertised at a median of £750 a day on the UK contract market in the six months to September 2026. Applied to SAP, £550. To Oracle, £532. To Microsoft Dynamics 365, £500. To Salesforce, £450. And to PeopleSoft, nothing: two roles advertised, no rates quoted, in any of the last three annual windows.

This guide gives the rate for each platform, the sample behind it, the direction it moved, and what that tells you about which skills are scarce and which are being commoditised.

Every platform except Workday fell. The two large samples, SAP (237 rates) and Oracle (224), fell 5.2% and 11.3%, and those moves are real; you do not get that kind of consistency from noise at that sample size. The generic “ERP consultant” title fell most, 15.8%, which is what happens to an unspecialised label in a market that pays for specialisation.

Why Workday is £200 a day above the rest

Three things, in descending order of confidence.

The certification wall. Workday only lets certified consultants deploy, and certification is only available through Workday or its partners. That limits supply in a way SAP’s and Oracle’s open ecosystems do not. Scarcity by design produces the premium you would expect, and the 25th percentile of the Workday sample, £638, is above the median of every other platform.

Where the market is in its cycle. Workday is still mostly being implemented; SAP and Oracle are mostly being maintained, upgraded or migrated off. Implementation pays more than maintenance everywhere.

Sample. Twenty-seven rates. A 24.9% rise on 27 observations could be partly a mix effect. But the direction is consistent with the two prior windows (£675 two years ago, £600 last year, £750 now), and with a 25th percentile that is itself above the market.

SAP and Oracle: large samples, falling rates

SAP is the largest ERP contract market in the UK by a distance, with 567 roles and 237 quoted rates in the window, and its median fell to £550 after two flat years at £580. The hourly view says something similar: the ten SAP contracts quoted by the hour paid a median of £87.50, which is above the day-rate equivalent (£73 at 7.5 hours), an unusual pattern that suggests the hourly SAP work is senior and specialised. The SAP figures also appear in our IT consulting rates guide, where the wider market context is set out.

Oracle fell 11.3% to £532 on 224 rates, though from a year-ago figure (£600) that was itself a 14.3% jump on the year before. Over two years Oracle is up £7. The story is flat with a spike in the middle, and the spike has passed.

The obvious explanation for both is the S/4HANA and Oracle Cloud migration waves maturing: a lot of consultants trained into them, the hardest work is done at the large enterprises, and what remains is mid-market rollouts and maintenance at lower rates. It is the same commoditisation pattern we describe for cloud architecture in the IT consulting rates guide.

Dynamics, NetSuite and Salesforce: the mid-market platforms

Dynamics 365 fell 9.1% to £500 on 65 rates, its second consecutive annual fall. It is the platform most exposed to Microsoft partner competition, where fixed-price implementations by partner firms set the ceiling for what an individual contractor can charge.

NetSuite sits at £550 on 12 rates, having jumped to £650 last year on a sample of one, so the annual change (−15.4%) means nothing. Two years ago it was £488. Treat NetSuite as a £500 to £550 platform with too few contracts to say more.

Salesforce is the cheapest at £450, down 7.7%, on 13 rates, with a 25th percentile of £363. Salesforce is not an ERP, strictly, but it is bought and staffed the same way and the searches that bring people here do not make the distinction. The large partner ecosystem and the volume of certified administrators keep it at the bottom of the enterprise-platform table.

Data
PeopleSoft: the rate that is not there

PeopleSoft is one of the most searched ERP consulting rates and IT Jobs Watch has no quoted UK contract rate for it in any of the last three windows, from a total of two advertised roles. That is the benchmark: the open market for PeopleSoft contractors in the UK has effectively closed. The work still exists, inside institutions that have not migrated, but it is bought through Oracle partners and long-standing individual relationships, and priced by negotiation rather than by advert. Expect to pay Oracle rates or above for scarce skills on a platform in run-off.

US ERP consulting fees

The US public benchmark is federal ceiling rates: the most a contractor may charge a US federal agency for that labour category. For IT and technology roles the middle half runs $123 to $189 an hour, median $151, across 1,185 rates in GSA CALC+ in September 2026 (consulting fees by industry). SAP-titled roles sit at the top of that band, with a median of $187.83 across 158 rates. Project fees are a separate number. In SPI Research’s 2025 benchmark, the average IT consulting project brought in $225,000 in 2024, and time and materials was 53.1% of IT consulting work sold.

For a full implementation, the consulting fee is usually a multiple of the software licence. Ask the integrator for the ratio on their last five comparable projects; it varies from under one to over three, and the variation is mostly scope discipline.

Buying ERP consulting

ERP projects go over budget on change requests, not on day rates. A £50 saving on the rate is invisible next to a scope that grew 40% because nobody wrote down what 'done' meant for the finance module.

Fix the price for the defined scope, hold a rate card for changes, and pair your own people with the consultants from the start. Key Takeaways
  • UK contract ERP consulting rates in the six months to September 2026: Workday £750, SAP £550, NetSuite £550, Oracle £532, Dynamics 365 £500, Salesforce £450; PeopleSoft has no quoted rates at all
  • Workday rose 24.92% and every other platform fell; the cheapest quarter of Workday consultants (£638) earn more than the median on any other platform
  • The large samples are the reliable ones: SAP (237 rates, −5.17%) and Oracle (224, −11.33%) are genuinely repricing as the migration waves mature
  • The unspecialised 'ERP consultant' title fell most, 15.79%, to £500: the market pays for the platform, not the label
  • US federal ceiling rates for IT roles run $123 to $189 an hour for the middle half, and SAP-titled roles sit at the top, with a median of $187.83
  • ERP budgets fail on scope, not rate: fix the price for the defined scope and hold a rate card for changes

Frequently asked questions

How much does an SAP consultant charge per day?

A £550 median on the UK contract market in the six months to 18 September 2026, from 237 quoted rates, with a 25th percentile of £475 and a 75th of £656. Contracts quoted hourly paid a median of £87.50. That is contractor pay; consultancy billing from an SAP partner firm is higher.

How much do Workday consultants charge?

A £750 median UK contract day rate, up 24.92% on the year, from 27 quoted rates. The range is tight and high: £638 at the 25th percentile to £782 at the 75th. Workday’s closed certification model limits supply, which is why it is £200 a day above SAP and Oracle.

How much do Oracle consultants charge?

A £532 median UK contract day rate from 224 quoted rates, down 11.33% from £600 a year earlier but up £7 on two years ago. The year-ago figure was a spike; the underlying rate is flat in the low £500s.

How much do PeopleSoft consultants charge per hour?

There is no published UK contract benchmark: IT Jobs Watch recorded two advertised PeopleSoft roles and no quoted rates in the six months to September 2026, or in either of the two prior annual windows. PeopleSoft skills are bought through Oracle partners and individual relationships and priced by negotiation. Budget at Oracle rates (£532 a day, about £71 an hour) or above for scarce skills.

How much does a Dynamics 365 or Salesforce consultant cost?

Dynamics 365 consultants were advertised at a £500 median day rate (65 quoted rates, down 9.09%), Salesforce consultants at £450 (13 quoted rates, down 7.69%). Both are mid-market platforms with large partner ecosystems, and partner firms’ fixed-price implementations cap what individual contractors can charge.

Are ERP consulting rates going up or down?

Down for every platform except Workday in the year to September 2026, on the UK contract market. The migration waves for SAP S/4HANA and Oracle Cloud are maturing, which is moving the work from scarce implementation skills to more plentiful rollout and maintenance skills.
